Care program · Doral, Florida
Viva Metabolic Health
Viva Metabolic Health is a primary-care educational pathway in Doral for adults 18 and older with prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, thyroid concerns, or weight-related health needs. A provider reviews symptoms, prior results, medicines, food, activity, and goals.

About this program
Assessment can distinguish a screening concern from a diagnosis requiring confirmation. Selected A1C or lipid testing may guide decisions; a website laboratory listing does not establish that the required diagnostic assay is available. Confirm test method, draw location, availability, and cost before nonurgent work.
Thyroid tests and other indicated studies may need outside laboratory coordination. Initial care may include nutrition, activity, and medicine-class discussion after individual safety assessment. Interest in a weight-management medicine class does not establish eligibility, stock, or access to a particular program.
No amount of weight loss can be promised. Eye, kidney, foot, or specialist assessment may be needed according to findings; confirm the receiving service and next step. Follow-up should review results, response, adverse effects, and whether the plan needs adjustment.
Ask who reviews outside results and when to reassess if they do not arrive. Some conversations may suit telehealth, while examination or testing needs the appropriate setting. Bring prior results and current medicines.
Confusion, vomiting, or fainting with very high or low blood sugar needs emergency care rather than routine scheduling.

What happens at my first metabolic health visit?
Your provider reviews symptoms, medicines, goals, and prior results. Selected A1C or lipid tests may guide care. A website laboratory list is not proof that a diagnostic A1C assay is available. Confirm method, draw location, availability, and cost before nonurgent testing. Thyroid tests may need an outside laboratory. Ask who reviews results and when to reassess.
How often should I check my A1C if I have diabetes?
Many adults with diabetes check their A1C at least twice a year when they are meeting their goals, and about every three months when treatment changes or goals are not met. Your provider sets the schedule that fits you. A1C testing is done at our clinic, so your provider can review the result with you during follow-up and adjust the plan if needed.
What is prediabetes, and can I lower my risk of type 2 diabetes?
Prediabetes means blood sugar is higher than normal but not yet in the diabetes range. It often causes no symptoms, so testing matters. NIH research shows that losing a modest amount of weight and staying active can lower the chance of getting type 2 diabetes. Your provider helps you set real goals for food, activity, and follow-up, and rechecks your levels over time.
Could a weight-management medicine class fit me?
Your provider reviews weight history, health conditions, current medicines, and safety factors before discussing medicine classes, including GLP-1 receptor agonists. These are not appropriate for everyone. Assessment does not establish access to a specific program or product. Confirm eligibility, availability, cost, and follow-up before nonurgent treatment. Food, activity, and other options remain part of the discussion. No amount of weight loss can be promised.
My thyroid test came back abnormal. What now?
An abnormal thyroid result does not always establish thyroid disease. Review symptoms, medicines and prior results with the responsible provider. Repeat or additional tests may be appropriate and may require an outside laboratory; confirm location, cost and who reviews results. Any treatment depends on diagnosis and an appropriately qualified provider. Confirm clinical scope and follow-up availability; this page does not establish in-clinic thyroid prescribing. Nodules, complex overactive thyroid disease or pregnancy-related concerns may require endocrinology or obstetric coordination.
Urgent symptoms
- Very high blood sugar with vomiting, fast or deep breathing, or confusion
- Low blood sugar that does not improve after fast-acting sugar, or fainting
- Severe belly pain or vomiting that will not stop while on a weight-loss medicine
- A fast-growing lump in the neck with trouble breathing or swallowing
- Sudden loss of vision
- A foot wound, spreading redness, or a black area on the foot, especially with fever, if you have diabetes
- If you have any of these, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Call 911 for a life-threatening emergency.
Urgent guidance →When we refer
Your provider involves endocrinology or another specialist when type 1 diabetes is suspected, the diagnosis is unclear, blood sugar stays hard to control, or complications are complex. Thyroid nodules, a possible thyroid cancer, a complex overactive thyroid, thyroid problems during pregnancy, and pituitary concerns follow a specialist pathway. Bariatric surgery and rare hormone causes of weight gain are coordinated with outside specialists, and you never have to fail treatment here before a referral that is already needed. Diabetes during pregnancy is coordinated with obstetric care.
